Inside an Installation

Like I said yesterday, we went to Estonian Art Museum and found one great light installation by Marie Kølbæk Iversen. She uses modern technical devices such as video cameras and projectors to investigate the void. at first glance when we went there we couldn´t see the real depth of the piece, but when we moved closer, there were 6-7 cameras that recorded live and projected it to the walls, creating a continous vibration and image. Our existence made this piece work.

The other exhibitions on that floor were really too ´modern´ for me, I am more fond of pieces I can relate to or have at least some sort of aesthetics to them. A piece of old cereal box glued to a nonworking halogen lamp just doesn´t bring any emotions up. Or a piece of metal pipe that is covered with someones unmentionables. Well, tastes are different.
